So, it’s finally time for an exciting change I’ve been considering for quite a while…
My daily photo project went well, better than I could have hoped really. OK, so I didn’t quite manage a whole year of daily photos…*but* I did learn a lot and this little break has helped me refocus.
The photos I did take, one for every day of this year until May 5th, can be found here
I was foolishly staying up until around midnight most evenings, just to edit and upload a new photo before the day officially ended. Now that I stop and think about it, there really was no need to ‘rush’ at all, its supposed to be a positive challenge, not a punishment!
Also, with my creative work I seem to be having more ‘blank canvas’ moments than ever before, where the bright white of a page/monitor causes me to shut down and stare blankly for a while until I snap out of it and just chuck some colour down to fill the empty space.
As I’m sure you’ll have noticed, I’ve not been showing you my art recently and that is just not good enough – for anyone, including myself. Believe me, I have been doodling, sketching & drawing almost every day, its just the actual sharing part I’m struggling with. I did update my little self portrait, to match my current hairstyle (or lack of it haha), which you can find here, so that’s progress I guess?
What I think I’m trying to say with this post, is that I’ve finally taken a moment to stop and think. Art, creativity, photography etc should be positive things. Its time to stop forcing schedules on myself and just enjoy what I do. A little mistake in a drawing isn’t the end of the world, don’t give up and throw it away – learn from it!
Now I feel I can continue to share my creations, whatever they may be, without feeling like everything has to be perfect – time to have fun! 🙂
Thanks ever so much for reading this post, I feel much better now that I’ve typed it all out ^_^
I did it, I actually put up my first photo of 2014!
You can see it by following this link: Flickr
Thank you, take care x
I just re-discovered my Flickr account, it has been sat there for 4 years, all empty and lonely – poor thing!
So, I guess I’d better learn how to use the site and put some photos up eh?
Thinking of starting a year-long project, where I can post new things I discover, create and capture.
I’m pretty excited, been needing a personal project to work on for a while now, perhaps I’ll get going on January 1st, if I learn everything by then
After hours of editing, I can finally share Espy Art’s new look, I do hope you like it:
I’ve chosen to keep everything clean and simple, with a little artistic touch here and there – with more exciting things on their way soon!
The old design was a little fiddly to work with, although I hope to bring back a few of its features as I develop the site
With each new makeover I try to link everything together so you never get lost in a sea of colour schemes, menus and templates
I’m pretty pleased with the brand new logo, it all feels nice and official now
Right, now I really must get back to doodling and continue to fill my gallery with critters
Have a great weekend
I realise that things have been pretty quiet on this blog lately. Truth is, I just haven’t been on many adventures, if any, and as a result have little to share with you.
I could post pictures of the meals I eat, the view of the street from my studio window or tell you about the weather, but I’m guessing that wouldn’t hold your attention?
Recently I have been working very hard on designs for my second website, which has rather taken over my life. But this is mostly me hunched over a laptop, so not much to see there.
Of course I’m still working on my portraits too. This side of my life fills my daytime, while my digital designs stretch long into the night.
If you’d like to find out more about my other work, just visit espyart.com and follow the links 🙂
Thanks for sticking with me!
